The varsity tennis team earned a share of the OK Red Conference Championship on October 2 in a tie with West Ottawa. Both teams earned 42 points at the conference tournament at Grand Haven High School. The teams also tied 4-4 at their conference match earlier in the season. Congratulations!

Rockets will OK Silver battle

WYOMING (WZZM) -- A pair of 3-2 teams met at Formsma stadium for a crucial O-K Silver game between the Calvin Christian Squires and the Kelloggsville Rockets Friday.

Some highlights:

Calvin Christian made it on the board first leading 7-0 in the 1st quarter.

The Rockets came right back.  Carl Roscoe swung it out to Demari Brown.  He broke free from a couple of defenders to get it into the endzone.  The point after failed but the Squires still lead it 7-6.

In the end Kelloggsville beat Calvin Christian 44-13.

West Ottawa bounces back against Grandville

GRANDVILLE (WZZM) -- The West Ottawa Panthers were trying to bounce back from their first loss of the season, as they took on the Grandville Bulldogs Friday. 

In the end West Ottawa won 23-12.

GPS - Homecoming 2010

Grandville, MI - Homecoming 2010 will be held Friday, October 1st. Pre-game activities will be from 4pm to 6pm and the football game against West Ottawa will take place at 7:00pm. The crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen will take place immediately after the game.


Georgetown United Methodist Church to hold Women's Expo

Georgetown United Methodist Church will be hosting a Women's Expo on October 23rd from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.  The event will have over 20 different vendors and the admission is free.  If you would like more information on this event feel free to contact the church at 669-0730.   

Grandville Walgreen's robbed at gunpoint Monday night

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - Grandville Police are looking the suspect who held up the Walgreen's store in the 3100 block of 28th Street, just before closing Monday night.

Police say that a man, described as being Hispanic, 20-25 years old, 5'10" to 6'1" tall, wearing a black Carhartt style coat, black pants with a white stripe on the side and a black bandana with green money symbols on it, armed with a black handgun, entered the store just before closing.  He demanded money from the clerk and also stole cigarettes from the store.  He used a duffle bag to carry away the cash and cigarettes and fled in an unknown direction.

Police are reviewing surveillance tapes and if they captured a good image of the suspect, it will be released to the media.
