She holds a Masters Degree in Early Childhood with the ZA endorsement. She is married to Larry, with 2 adult children, Betsy and Andy.
The early childhood field has continued to be her passion because she feels it is the most important phase of a child’s development. For her, this age is the most rewarding to teach. Early Childhood is the age where everything is new and interesting. Learning is in the area of physical, social, emotional, and play exploration in their new world. Their world needs to be safe and secure as they are checking everything out as soon as they are able to reach for it.
Rockford Community Education is where Debbie taught Preschool for 9 years and she has been in childcare for the past 5 years. School readiness is the focus in how she views a child’s development in the early stages. Teaching children to develop skills of listening, following directions and behaving independently in a group environment, will help children be successful in school. Play is “children’s work” as it is how they learn at this stage. Debbie makes sure plenty of “play” is in your child’s day so learning will continue to develop necessary skills for their school experience.
