My Town Jenison: Culver's restaurant owner says goodbye

JENISON, Mich.—Community members are encouraged to stop in at Culver's restaurant Tuesday, Jan. 13 and say goodbye to owner Mavis Byers.

Byers handed over the keys to the popular Jenison restaurant Dec. 30.

A popular Jenison restaurant is changing hands.  She opened the restaurant just over a decade ago.  In that time, she has also become a pillar in the community, creating the Jenison Street Dance, organizing the Memorial Day Parade, and serving as a board member for the Grandville Jenison Chamber and Kenowa AMBUCS.

In a statement on Facebook, members of the Grandville-Jenison Chamber had this to say: “On behalf of both the Grandville Jenison Chamber and Kenowa AMBUCS, we cannot thank her enough for her commitment to our community. While Mavis is pursuing her next chapter, we are grateful that she considers Jenison/Georgetown Township her home and we pray that her next venture keeps her here.”

Patrons may visit the Culver's restaurant anytime between noon and 8 p.m. Tuesday to wish Byers well and sign some of her memorabilia.
