GRANDVILLE, Mich.—  A 38-foot tool in the fight against skin cancer will roll into Jenison this weekend.

The Skin Cancer Foundation’s customized RV will stop at the Rite Aid at 2775 Port Sheldon Street this Sunday, July 13.  From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dr. Dara Spearman will be offering free full body skin cancer screenings to the public.

The RV is equipped with two private exam rooms.  Visitors can also learn more about how to properly perform monthly skin checks and protect themselves from skin cancer.

Each year, more than 3.5 million Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer, making it the most common form of cancer in the U.S.  Early detection is key to beating skin cancer.

Sunday’s visit to Jenison is one of 53 stops on the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Road to Healthy Skin Tour this year.  Since the tour began in 2008, more than 18,000 people have received free screenings and more than 300 suspected cases of cancer have been caught.
