Title (Max 100 Characters)
On August 7, 2012 between 6-9pm, residents are invited to stop by the Hudsonville Fire Station as part of the National Night Out 2012 to find out ways to keep their families safe enjoying a festive community event.
As part of National Night Out 2012, event visitors can stop by and tour fire trucks, check out the rescue equipment, find out how to stay safe in severe weather, and tour the Mobile Command Unit, among other activities. In addition, kids will have the opportunity to operate a fire hose, try on a firefighter uniform, and even tour emergency vehicles.
Dave Dahl, the Emergency Management Director, stated that, “The goal of National Night Out is to come together as a community and build relationships as part of the continuing effort to prevent crime and drug abuse. In Hudsonville, we’re taking this opportunity to help make our residents aware of some of the organizations, people, and equipment that are in place to promote and ensure public safety.”
National Night Out is celebrated across the nation with over 37 million people participating in events in 2011. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
All ages are invited to join the Hudsonville Fire Department, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Hudsonville Emergency Management Department, Ottawa County Emergency Management, Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority, Veredevoogd-Brummel Insurance, and the Ottawa County Tech Rescue Team at the National Night Out.
Light refreshments will be provided.
