(WZZM)-A Grand Rapids man faces a number of charges after police say he led them on a high speed chase through Wyoming, Grandville, and Walker.
43-year old Shawn Necker is charged with fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated, resisting and obstructing, and driving with a suspended license. He is also considered a habitual offender.
The chase started just after midnight when police say Necker was speeding and ignoring red lights. At one point, Michigan State Police say he was going the wrong way on 44th and reached speeds of 105 miles per hour on US 131 and I-96.
Finally on 3 Mile Road, police rear-ended his car, spinning him out of control in front of the Walker Army Reserve Center. He was then chased on foot and police had to use a taser to stop him.
