My Town: Kids and mom sales begin March 28

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Two big events are coming up for mothers and mothers-to-be, looking to add to or clear out their child’s room.

Resurrection Life Church will host its All About Kids Sale Friday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Visitors can sift through more than 20,000 gently used children and maternity items from more than 150 consignors. Admission is free.

Resurrection Life Church is located at 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW in Grandville.

GRANDVILLE, Mich.—Community members are invited to meet one of the top robots of its kind in the world during an open house by the Grandville RoboDawgs.

The team will hold its annual Competition Robot Open House and Silent Auction Thursday, March 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Grandville High School Robotics & Engineering Center.  Visitors can meet the teams, drive their robots, see their 3D printers and CNC mill, tour the Grandville Robotics Center, eat ice cream and bid on merchandise from more than 100 Grandville businesses.

The Grandville High School Robotics & Engineering Center is located at 4900 Canal SW in Grandville, just south of the main high school building.

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich.— What should happen to 200 Baldwin Street?

The Georgetown Township Board is turning to the community for answers.  The board will hold the first of two public forums for ideas to develop the space on March 12, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Community members can also weigh in on long term plans for the community's senior center and library.

A second forum will take place April 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

My Town Grandville: Todd Waite Legacy Foundation Auction on March 15

GRANDVILLE, Mich.-- After losing 19-year-old Todd Waite to suicide in July 2010, his loved ones began holding an annual auction to help raise awareness about the issue of suicide, as well as ways to prevention this type of tragedy.

Ivanrest Christian Reformed Church,  located at 3777 Ivanrest Avenue SW in Grandville will host this year's benefit on March 15. The silent auction and dinner begin at 5 p.m. A number of vacation packages are available to bid on.

My Town Walker: IHOP to serve up free pancakes March 4

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.—Skip firing up your skillet Tuesday, March 4 and head to your closest IHOP for free pancakes.

Participating IHOP restaurants will be serving up a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in honor of National Pancake Day.   The deal will be good from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

In exchange for free pancakes, customers are encouraged to donate to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals for Children and other local charities.

My Town: Georgetown Township looking for development ideas

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich.—The Georgetown Township Board is looking for ideas to develop 200 Baldwin Street, as well as the community’s senior center and library.
