GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - 7:09 p.m. marked the official start of summer in Grand Rapids on Wednesday and it was a hot one! But, some people had it better than others.
What better place to cool off than Millennium Park in Grandville?
Lani Pleyel, a resident of Door said, "My air conditioner is broke, and it won't be fixed until Thursday."
Beach sand scorched feet at 113 degrees. But some loungers we talked to said they don't mind. They were happy to be away from work.
So where is the worst place to be working on a hot day? Pleyel said a kitchen.
Pizza makers definitely have our pity where ovens easily reach 400 degrees.
Mario Restvo, owner of Fanco's Pizza on Alpine said, "I want to stay on the beach too, what you want me to do. I have to work you know."
Jai Vantuimen, a resident of Grandville said, "Road construction, that has got to be the worst."
But even construction workers don't seem to mind too much.
Construction worker Larry Jack said, "This here aint bad. Done it so many years I'm used to it."
Scott Johansen, one of Jack's co-workers said, "This is nice, beautiful. I was a welder in the Army. Sat in a building in Texas. Worst job ever."
In hot conditions like we've seen for this last week of June, it's advised to drink close to two liters of water every day!
