The cost is $15.

New Shoes...

Hello fellow runners in north Grand Rapids. We survived the Riverbank Run, our thoughts and prayers to those that we lost. But we keep running, and that means wear on the treads. Did you know that the average running shoe is only good for approx 100 miles? You can do the math. For me, every three months or so (I push a few miles past that limit), I need a new pair of shoes. I keep one old pair for the Gym - usually the one with the least tread. Another pair for those light runs of 3-5 miles. Then the new pair for the long hauls - anything past 5 miles.

Elementary girls from several of our schools participated in the national after-school program which emphasizes goal-setting, physical fitness and positive relationships. Congratulations to all participants!

Local Golf Course Gets a Mulligan

Local Golf Course Gets a Mulligan

Like to play golf? Like to keep your business local? Like to keep a small business open? You can do all three. Check out Summergreen golf course in Hudsonville. Instead of letting an old 9-hole course be closed all summer and let the grass grow and weeds out of control a local golf fan is hitting a 2nd tee shot this summer.

32 year old Jenison High School graduate Jason Minier is taking on the task of keeping it open one more summer (with the hopes of it staying open longer). Jason is leasing the course from the owners and is keeping the small course operating in Hudsonville.

According to the courses website www.summergreengolfcourse.co  the course is open from dawn to dusk 7 days a week. Green fees range from $5 for a student under 18 to $10 for an adult. The 9 hole golf course has a par of 31 and rental clubs that are free.
