Chambers of Commerce partner to bring members together over golf

Starting August 30 and running through September 27, each Thursday from 3pm-5pm, the Hudsonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Allendale Chamber of Commerce will be partnering on a golf networking league. Through the Networking Golf League, members will be able to enjoy a game of golf while making new connections. For five consecutive weeks, participating golfers will be paired with a new group of golfers for nine holes so business members get time to build relationships with other businesses in a casual environment.

After a very successful event hosted by the Hudsonville Chamber in the spring, the two Chambers decided to join forces in an effort to add event more benefit to their members through a joint league in the fall.

Starting August 1, the Hudsonville Friends of the Parks is putting on a local scavenger hunt affectionately named the ‘funk buster’. Park visitors can go to www.hudsonville.org and download a copy of the playing card. On the card will be pictures from five parks in Hudsonville and players will be asked to identify which park the picture is from. The first five players to correctly identify all of the park photographs will win a ‘Friends of the Park’ t-shirt.

Amy Robinson, from the Friends of the Parks said, “We wanted to do this to get kids out in the parks and to visit all the parks. The summer is almost over and we just wanted to make sure the kids knew everything that is out there for them.”

Playground Review - Prairie Park

Playground Review - Prairie Park

WYOMING - Nestled along a busy road in a sea of apartment complexes is Prairie Park, a nice piece of green space with a walking trail, a skate park, and a nice playground contraption with slides and climbing pieces.

The park is located on Prairie Parkway between Byron Center Ave. and Burlingame.

The park includes a gazebo with one picnic table, water fountains and bathrooms.

Unfortunately the park offers no shade, even at 10am.  Other than that, another fun place to run your toddler around for a while.
