Trio charged in Grandville home invasion, kidnapping

WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- Three men are now formally charges in a Grandville home invasion and kidnapping of a woman.

Regan Reynolds, 33, Quinton Goree, 25, and Bryan Blakely, 21, are each charged with kidnapping, home invasion, and two counts of conspiracy.  They appeared for arraignment Wednesday in 59th District Court in Walker.

Police say Reynolds planned the August 9 break-in at the home of his former wife's parents.  They say he drove Goree and Blakely to the home, where they held the couple at knife-point.  According to detectives, Goree and Blakely took Reynolds' former mother-in-law in her own SUV and duct-taped her to a telephone pole in a Moline cornfield.

The woman managed to free herself from her restraints and asked a nearly truck driver for help.

Detectives say a Silent Observer tip led them to Goree and Blakely, who confessed to the kidnapping.  Their confessions led to Reynolds, who police say admitted to the plan.

Investigators say Goree and Blakely were after ransom money.  Officers say Reynolds was also after money, but was also motivated by revenge -- they say his former in-laws had assisted his ex-wife in a child custody battle.
